In 1998 Peter Ivy was a recent graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design. Our first Hazlegrove Lecturer, he in some ways set the tone for the residency with a very experimental approach to his work that alternated between advances in goblet-making technique and attempts to research and construct a glass balloon that could be filled with helium and float in air. At the end of his stay in Cambridge, Ivy gave a slide presentation of his poetic and evocative work in glass.
