Whitney discovered the Glass Lab as an undergraduate in 1999. After graduating from MIT in 2001 with both a B.S. and an M.S. in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, he decided to pursue his new passion for glass and became a full-time glassblower. Since then he has taught classes at MIT, Cambridge Glass School, and Simple Syrup Glass Studio. He has worked for a number of Boston area glass artists such as Andy Magdanz, Peter Houk, Emily Abbott, and Jon Betsch. Whitney has attended Pilchuck Glass School, and was a teaching assistant to Kait Rhoads. Currently Whitney teaches intermediate glass classes, while exploring new sculptural ideas and techniques in his blown glass.
