Olivia Cheo took her first glassblowing class in 2004 and has been part of the beginner teaching staff at MIT’s Glass Lab since 2010. She has studied various glassmaking techniques under Whitney Cornforth, Brendon Edwards, Stephanie Sersich, Richard Golding, Suellen Fowler, Darin Denison+David Walters, Daniel Clayman, Marianna Linz, and Boyd Sugiki+Lisa Zerkowitz at studios including MIT, the Corning Museum of Glass, and the Pittsburgh Glass Center.
Other pursuits of Olivia’s include knitting, crochet, sewing, and jewelry making. Throughout all of these endeavors–especially glass–bold, vibrant colors play a dominant role in the final product. Most recently, Olivia has been conducting an extensive color survey in an effort to better understand the nuances of the myriad shades produced by different glass manufacturers.
Originally from New Jersey, Olivia holds a Bachelor of Science from the Department of Chemical Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
