The Glass Lab is continually involved with special projects and programs outside the regularly scheduled classes. Some of these are ongoing, such as our collaboration with the Science and Engineering Program for Middle School Students. Others, like the project to make lighting fixtures for Simmons Hall, are one-time adventures. Some projects involve interaction with other parts of the MIT community, and others bring the Lab into contact with life outside the Institute.
In choosing special projects we tend to be interested in opportunities that will bring MIT students into contact with experiences they would not normally encounter in school, and, if possible, to give students some exposure to the larger field of art glass.
